After a very bad fall I was hospitalized and need rehabilitation. I choose to receive Meals on Wheels so that I could stay in my own home while I tried to heal and “put myself together again”. It has been wonderful and I am most grateful for their services for seniors. When you find yourself suddenly housebound and on a walker you find you need help in daily activities. The thing that stands out most for me about Meals on Wheels is the quality of the food and the friendliness of the people who visit. I look forward to seeing my driver every day!

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009Three years ago, I became homebound and lived by myself quite far away from any family or friends. I couldn’t walk or do anything for myself. One of the first services I received was Meals on Wheels. That day was the first day I felt like things would be better. If it hadn’t been for all the smiling faces and words of wisdom I received from Meals on Wheels I truly would have gotten worse emotionally and physically. In the world we live in today, you have to pull a smile out of somebody; but your organization has proved itself differently. Thank you all for coming out even when it’s miserable outside. Thank you mostly for the smiles.

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009I enjoy cooking, but since I had heart surgery four years ago, I’ve had to slow down quite a bit which includes preparing my own meals. My children and grandchildren all work and I don’t like to burden them to get my groceries and check on me- so Meals on Wheels is a Godsend! I love to eat and Meals on Wheels has a good variety of meals. Some days the only person I see is the person who delivers my meals. He is always pleasant and friendly which brightens my day.

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009Several times I have been in the hospital and when I got home Meals on Wheels was there for me! I am housebound and can not get out of my house to shop for meals. Meals on Wheels has always been there for me and it’s nice to know that someone cares!

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009The cost of my husband’s medications were very high and it was hard to try and make nutritious meals with what little money we had left to shop with; there just wasn’t enough. When I was offered Meals on Wheels, I jumped at the chance. You have been so kind to us and the meals were very good. I really love the vegetable lasagna and lemon chicken. My husband loved the sandwiches. He has passed on to another place to eat; he is now with the Lord. Everyone should know about this program. It has been such a big, no, a HUGE help. RAH RAH for Meals on Wheels!

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009It is very comforting to receive a good meal once a day. I especially appreciate the nice people who deliver them! I’ve often thought about how they fight their way up and down my steep hill in all kinds of weather, never complaining, to check and see if I’m okay. Of course, I love all the delicious food and desserts, but it’s the visit that really cheers me up. I have visits from my brother, but if I didn’t have visits from Meals on Wheels it would make for a very long week!
